Kaiam offers a range of high performance components and modules based on PLC technology. These include a wide variety of optical Multiplexers and Demultiplexers (with and without Variable Optical Attenuators, VOA’s) for use in high channel count DWDM systems. Both thermal (requiring power to maintain optimal performance) and athermal (requiring no power) options are available in channel counts from 16 to 96, and with channel spacings of 100Ghz (on and off-grid) and 50GHz. These parts are offered at die level, at fully connectorised module level, and at 19” rack level.
Also available are custom designed Mux/Demux die for lower channel count CWDM systems, and Hybrid Mixer devices (with and without Polarisation Beam Splitters) for use in 100Gbps Coherent Receivers.
Full details for some of the products are shown here, but please contact us if you wish to discuss any other requirements you may have.
Hybrid Mixer PLC
The Kaiam Hybrid Mixer PLC is intended for use in Coherent Receivers for 100Gbps optical transmission systems. It has no control electronics and consumes no electrical power. The rugged design contains no moving parts, and the optical performance is guaranteed for applications from -5°C to 75°C.
40-Channel, 100GHz Integrated Variable Multiplexer (V-Mux)
The Kaiam Variable Multiplexer (V-Mux) offers best in class performance by uniting Variable Optical Attenuator arrays with our well-established silica Arrayed Waveguide Grating technology.
40-Channel 100GHz Thermal AWG
The Kaiam 40-Channel Thermal AWG (Arrayed Waveguide Grating) is a passive de-multiplexing device that spatially separates a stream of optical signals from a single-mode input fiber into different single mode fibers, each corresponding to an individual ITU channel in the specified wavelength band.
40-Channel 100GHz Athermal AWG
The Kaiam 40-Channel Athermal AWG (Arrayed Waveguide Grating) is a high-performance DWDM mux/demux device operating on 100GHz channel spacing without the need for temperature stabilization. The planar processed silica-on-silicon chips comprise arrayed channel waveguides to separate or combine multiple wavelengths.
40Ch 100GHz Cyclic C/L Band Athermal AWG
The Kaiam Athermal AWG (Arrayed Waveguide Grating) is a fully passive device. It has no control electronics and consumes no electrical power. The rugged design contains no moving parts, and the optical performance is guaranteed from -5ºC to 70ºC for Central Office and -40ºC to 70ºC for Remote Node applications.
80-Channel 50GHz Thermal AWG
The Kaiam 80-Channel Thermal AWG (Arrayed Waveguide Grating) is a cost effective, high-performance DWDM mux/demux device operating on 50GHz channel spacing in the C Band. The planar processed, silica-on-silicon chips use arrayed channel waveguides to separate or combine multiple wavelengths.
80-Channel 50GHz Athermal AWG
The Kaiam 80-Channel Athermal AWG (Arrayed Waveguide Grating) is a high-performance DWDM mux/demux device operating on 50GHz channel spacing without the need for temperature stabilization. The planar processed silica-on-silicon chips comprise arrayed channel waveguides to separate or combine multiple wavelengths.
